YouTube has added background audio playback controls to Android Auto, the company's in-car software interface. The update, reported by 9to5Google, lets users manage audio playback from YouTube while the app is running in the background on Android Auto-connected vehicles.

The feature brings YouTube's in-car functionality closer to what users expect from dedicated audio apps. Previously, background playback through Android Auto was limited, requiring users to interact with the screen to manage YouTube audio.
