Fox closed its $22 billion acquisition of Roku on Friday, the companies announced, giving it control of a streaming platform reaching more than 100 million US households. Roku founder Anthony Wood now serves on Fox's board.

The deal, first announced in June, allows Fox to bring its sports, news and local stations to Roku. Fox also operates Fox One and the free streaming service Tubi.

Wood said Fox shares Roku's commitment to remaining open to every content partner, even as the acquisition gives Fox control over the platform.
