Amkor Technology revised its full-year capital expenditure forecast to approximately $2.5 billion as it reported stronger profitability in semiconductor packaging and testing, MoneyCheck reported. Third-quarter sales reached $1.991 billion, compared with $1.987 billion a year earlier, while operating income rose to $225 million from $159 million.

Operating margin increased to 11.3% from 8.0% a year earlier. Computing and Automotive & Industrial operations posted record revenue, while communications weakness constrained overall sales growth. Amkor projected fourth-quarter revenue of $1.9 billion to $2.0 billion and gross margins of 18.0% to 19.0%. At September's end, it held $2.4 billion in cash and short-term investments against $2.5 billion in outstanding debt.
