Amazon announced plans to invest more than €16 billion ($18 billion) in Germany in 2027, including €4.8 billion to expand its AWS data centre region around Frankfurt. The company also plans a second robotics and AI research lab in Berlin, doubling its research presence in the city.

Six warehouses will receive upgrades, with work continuing into 2028. Amazon says its logistics projects will create more than 3,000 jobs. The commitment also covers satellite internet and television production: Amazon has booked 24 Arianespace rocket launches for its Leo network, while Prime Video has more than 15 German productions planned through 2027. Amazon has not disclosed the cost of the new Berlin lab.
