EPA guidance excludes islanded data-center power from Acid Rain Program
Image: Primary The EPA issued guidance saying its Clean Air Act Acid Rain Program does not apply to power-generation facilities that are not connected to a public electricity grid, including islanded facilities proposed for data centers. The agency says those facilities neither sell electricity nor must report as generating units to the Department of Energy under its reading of the program. EPA says the clarification gives developers more flexibility over where and how quickly they build data-center power supply.
