Amazon OpenSearch Service now supports MCP Apps for observability investigations, AWS said. The feature returns a text summary and an interactive visualization, such as a trace waterfall or service map, in the same AI-assistant conversation.

AWS says a local MCP server authenticates with configured AWS credentials and forwards queries to an OpenSearch UI application connected to OpenSearch, CloudWatch or Amazon Managed Service for Prometheus. The setup requires an OpenSearch observability workspace, a compatible agentic IDE, Node.js 22 or later, and specified AWS permissions.
