VMware introduces vSphere Express for installations of up to 128 cores

VMware announced vSphere Express on Wednesday, adding a basic virtualization offering for smaller organizations. Distributor TD Synnex lists an annual price of $9,600 for installations of up to 128 cores, with no reduction for customers using fewer cores, Ars Technica reported. The product includes live migration of running virtual machines and automatic restarts after virtual machine failures. It supports only discrete instances, which organizations cannot manage centrally. Unlike vSphere Standard, which has gone years without a meaningful update, Express will receive updates as frequently as VMware Cloud Foundation and vSphere Foundation.
