OpenAI plans to release its GPT-5.6 AI model series on Thursday. The rollout comes weeks after the company postponed the launch in June while US officials reviewed potential security risks, according to Deutsche Welle.

The company describes the GPT-5.6 series as its strongest yet. It will include three versions. Sol is the flagship model.

Terra is a mid-range version for everyday tasks. Luna is the lowest-cost option focused on speed and efficiency. OpenAI says the models offer increased capabilities in cybersecurity, biology and autonomous AI tasks.
