OpenAI cancels next-generation model release and pauses advanced training

OpenAI cancels next-generation model release and pauses advanced training Image: Primary
OpenAI has scrapped the release of a next-generation AI model after researchers raised safety concerns during internal testing and has paused training of its most advanced models, the Guardian reported. The release cancellation was announced this week. David Robinson, who led the writing of safety reports accompanying OpenAI product releases, has resigned. In an essay, he argued that the company's pace of launches prevented the level of care he considered necessary and called for safety expertise from nuclear power and aviation. An OpenAI spokesperson said the company pauses training or holds back models when it needs to slow down.
