Antaris announced Tuesday it closed a $28 million Series A capital round led by Westwave Capital with participation from Lockheed Martin's venture arm and unnamed new investors. The five-year-old startup develops artificial intelligence assistance software for satellite makers to design missions in a digital twin environment. CEO and co-founder Tom Barton said in a release the investment validates the company's vision for software-defined space missions and positions it to push the boundaries of AI-native mission design and autonomous operations. Chief technology officer and co-founder Karthik Govindhasamy said virtualizing every system element is now the foundation for AI-driven autonomy. The Antaris Intelligence platform includes predictive design modeling, anomaly detection, constellation orchestration and autonomous on-orbit operations. The company plans to use the bulk of the funding to further develop the platform and expand its network of partners including satellite operators and government agencies. Antaris is contracted to help SARsatX develop a 16-satellite constellation in Saudi Arabia and is starting an expansion push in Japan.
