Wistron has opened its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Fort Worth, a 324,000-square-foot plant producing NVIDIA AI superchips, according to the NVIDIA Blog. NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang joined Wistron Chairman Simon Lin at the opening ceremony with Wistron executives, Taiwan government officials, and local Fort Worth leaders. The plant, called Wistron's D1 facility, currently runs two manufacturing cells: one producing the NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip and one that will produce the NVIDIA Vera Rubin Superchip. NVIDIA said D1 is scaling up this year to produce tens of thousands of boards per month. The facility represents a $700 million commitment to advanced manufacturing in the United States and has created over 500 new jobs at the Texas site, with plans to expand to 1,000 by the end of the year. NVIDIA said it has committed to manufacturing up to $500 billion in advanced AI platforms in the United States and described the Fort Worth factory as one of the projects supporting that commitment. Wistron designed and fully simulated the facility before construction in a digital twin built on NVIDIA's open platform, including Nemotron and Cosmos frontier models, Omniverse and Metropolis libraries, and open frameworks including PhysicsNeMo. The company said that let engineers validate assembly line layouts, optimize production processes, and train workers on standard operating procedures virtually before systems came online. At the ceremony, the first NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip produced on site was unveiled, and Huang signed it. He described the system built around that superchip as the most powerful AI supercomputer in the world, saying it has one-and-a-half million parts inside, weighs two tons, costs 4 million dollars, and is being produced in volume at Wistron.
