Apple has extended patches for an exploited CoreGraphics vulnerability to older iPhones and iPads, including the iPhone XS, XS Max, XR and seventh-generation iPad. Apple warned Monday that the flaw may have been used in sophisticated attacks against specific individuals.

The vulnerability, CVE-2026-86950, allows a maliciously crafted file to trigger arbitrary code execution through an out-of-bounds memory write. Apple addressed it with improved bounds checking. Newer devices received patches in September; this week's updates extend protection to additional older hardware.
