Documents obtained by WIRED through a Freedom of Information Act request show the Commodity Futures Trading Commission approved at least three previously unreported investigations into trading on prediction market Polymarket.

CFTC chairman Michael Selig authorized a private probe in early May into potential insider trading on Biden pardon event contracts, a second at the end of May into Iran event contracts, and a third in July into Google-themed contracts. The orders permit testimony, subpoenas and document production.

The Google inquiry runs parallel to a Southern District of New York investigation separate from the case against a Google engineer. The CFTC did not respond to questions about the investigations' status.
