The White House has asked OpenAI and Anthropic to keep new AI models from the UK's AI Security Institute until the US government tests them, Politico reported. A British official confirmed the reported request to Bloomberg. Politico identified the Office of the National Cyber Director as its source.

Anthropic has not provided its Mythos 5.1 model to the UK institute and said access is currently limited to a set of US organizations. The institute has tested leading models before release through voluntary arrangements. Its director said it tested OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra before launch, indicating that access has varied by model.
