Barclays is expanding its collaboration with Anthropic to extend Claude across its global operations, Anthropic announced. The bank expects Claude Code adoption to reach 50% of its developer population by the end of 2026 and a majority of software engineers in 2027, supporting software development and modernization of legacy systems. Existing deployments include a knowledge assistant adopted by more than 16,000 colleagues and a Global Markets platform that processes approximately 120,000 emails daily. The email system classifies inquiries and determines their processing routes. Barclays applies governance, security controls and human oversight to its AI uses.
