Oxford University spin-out Moa Technology has raised £22.2 million in a Series C funding round, Silicon Republic reported.

The agricultural biotech company was co-founded in 2017 by Prof Liam Dolan of Dublin and Clément Champion. It develops synthetic and biological herbicides with new modes of action aimed at weed resistance and crop protection.

The round was co-led by Oxford Science Enterprises and Supernova Invest, with participation from returning investors Lansdowne Partners, Parkwalk, and Oxford University Innovation. New investors included Agri Investment Fund; GrainInnovate, managed by Artesian for the Grain Research Development Corporation; Infinity Investment Partners; and Magdalen College Oxford.

Moa said its Galaxy platform has screened more than 900,000 compounds and identified more than 80 promising novel mode-of-action areas. In 2025 it unveiled Amplifier treatments intended to reduce herbicide amounts and concentrations needed for weed control. Research and development partners named by the company include Nufarm, Gowan, Certis Belchim, and Corteva Agriscience.

CEO Virginia Corless said the Series C validates progress in the lab and in commercial partnerships. The company said proceeds will advance its three most mature programmes toward commercialisation, expand the early-stage pipeline, and further develop Amplifiers. Moa previously raised a £35 million Series B in 2022.
