# AWS brings S3 Vectors pre-filtering to GovCloud

AWS says S3 Vectors now supports metadata pre-filtering in its GovCloud US-East and US-West regions. The feature checks filters before searching for similar vectors, returning up to 5x more matching vectors when a filter is selective. A new prefix operator also lets applications filter values such as paths and URLs.

Indexes in new GovCloud vector buckets use pre-filtering by default. Customers can update existing indexes in place or compare filtering methods on the same index before switching. AWS says deployment is still underway and should finish in the coming days.
