Google said its Gemma family of open models has surpassed 1 billion downloads. The company also said developers published more than 100,000 Gemma model variants over the past two years. Google described the figures while highlighting its developer ecosystem, which it calls the Gemmaverse. The post did not provide a methodology for counting downloads or variants, identify which distributions were included, or independently verify the adoption figures.
