New court filings allege Homeland Security Investigations subpoenaed REI in March for transaction information on all people in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area who bought a specified dark-green beanie since 2024. The alleged request was among 92 summonses used in an investigation connected to an ICE protest. REI did not say whether it complied or how many customers could be affected. The filings also describe demands sent to social-media, airline, telecom, car-rental and employment entities.
