# AWS adds 15-second monitoring for ElastiCache Valkey clusters

AWS now offers detailed monitoring for node-based ElastiCache Valkey clusters, publishing selected OpenTelemetry metrics to CloudWatch every 15 seconds. The metrics carry attributes that teams can filter and aggregate with Prometheus Query Language to examine connection limits, error types and memory use.

Standard monitoring continues at 60-second intervals and gains a core set of OpenTelemetry metrics at no additional charge. Detailed monitoring is available wherever CloudWatch supports those metrics. ElastiCache adds no charge, but CloudWatch charges apply to selected detailed metrics, alarms and queries.
