Israeli startup Qedma claims a quantum breakthrough with IBM. The company said its error-reduction technology helped IBM's computers achieve a result beyond the reach of leading classical simulations for the first time.

The experiment used IBM's Quantum Heron processor and Qedma's QESEM software to examine a complex physics problem involving magnetic materials, reaching up to 74 qubits. Dr. Asif Sinay, co-founder and CEO of Qedma, said in an interview with Calcalist that they have opened the door to a new world of computing.

The research, conducted by Qedma, IBM and Japan's RIKEN Institute, examined the dynamics of a two-dimensional Floquet Ising model. Qedma's software, called QESEM, uses quantum error suppression and error-mitigation techniques to improve reliability on noisy quantum computers.
