Volantis raises $88 million for laser links between AI and memory chips

San Francisco semiconductor startup Volantis said Thursday it has raised $88 million in venture capital, Reuters reported. The company aims to transmit data between AI and memory chips using vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers, the type used in the iPhone's Face ID.
