Colossal says new AI platform identified approximately 2,300 dodo editing targets

Colossal Biosciences says its new GenoMorph AI platform has identified approximately 2,300 potential DNA editing targets linked to the dodo's skull and facial features. The company announced the system Wednesday as a way to identify useful genetic changes when few extinct-species genomes are available. GenoMorph combines developmental data from chickens, quail, ducks and pigeons with genetic information and 3D skull measurements from more than 70 bird species. Colossal also says it developed a system that delivers gene-editing tools directly into developing bird embryos using lipid nanoparticles, allowing tests without waiting through a breeding cycle. The predicted edits still require laboratory testing to establish whether they produce the intended physical traits.
