Anthropic opens Claude for Government on general-availability terms

Anthropic made Claude for Government generally available to federal and state agencies on September 30, moving it out of the public beta that began in July. The platform provides coding and agent capabilities through a FedRAMP High authorized environment, and procurement officers can now contract directly with Anthropic on general-availability terms. Agencies pay no seat fees and purchase usage in fixed increments under a hard spending cap. Administrators allocate budgets across departments and set model and user limits. Conversation history stays on agency-managed devices, while usage exports contain only metering data. The Claude Code command-line interface and Claude for Microsoft 365 are entering early access.
