The United States is reportedly seeking Korean semiconductor-facility investment as part of a $200 billion U.S. investment project, Seoul Economic Daily reported.

The paper said negotiations over a first project are in their final stages and could result in Samsung Electronics or SK hynix forming joint ventures with project-specific U.S. special-purpose vehicles. Those vehicles could make equity investments or provide loans for fab construction. Korea's government says semiconductors are not currently the first target for U.S. investment, and the structure has not been publicly settled.
