# Universal Robots launches Gen 7 industrial robotics platform

Universal Robots introduced its Gen 7 robotics platform at IMTS, including a redesigned controller, teach pendant, tool flange and three new robot arms. The company says its CB7 controller provides 40% more compute power in a 30% smaller footprint than prior generations. Gen 7 uses PolyScope X and supports network connections to industrial systems, open APIs and ROS 2 communication for edge-AI applications. Universal Robots says its safety controller can reject AI commands that violate configured safety rules.
