JPYC raised $38 million in an extended Series B led by logistics firm AZ-COM Maruwa, with support from existing investors including Metaplanet Ventures, VentureBurn reported.

The yen-backed stablecoin issuer said funds will expand regulated digital payment products, compliance capacity, and consumer and B2B infrastructure in Japan. Founded in 2019, JPYC became Japan's first registered stablecoin issuer under the amended Payment Services Act after launching its token in October 2025. Tokens are backed by yen bank deposits and Japanese government bonds and are redeemable for yen. The company says it earns mainly from reserve assets rather than transaction fees.

AZ-COM Maruwa plans to use JPYC for routine business payments and to pay about 2,300 partners, contractors, and transport operators. JPYC has begun pilot programs with Lawson convenience stores and aims to release payments automatically after delivery confirmation. Competitors include SBI's JPYSC and a joint effort by MUFG, SMBC, and Mizuho.
