# Cisco president grants unlimited AI tokens for legacy code project

Cisco president and chief product officer Jeetu Patel told Fortune he has given engineer Padmanabhan Krishnamurthy unlimited AI tokens to refactor the company's legacy code. Krishnamurthy proposed doing the work with a two-person team after joining Cisco through its acquisition of his translation startup, EzDubs, in 2025.

The project has a four-week period to prove the approach and a goal of refactoring 98% of Cisco's legacy code within 24 months. That target describes the project's ambition, rather than a demonstrated result.
