Image: Primary Mastercard transactions were declined across Australia on Saturday afternoon after a scheduled system update, according to Mastercard. The company said the issue was resolved and its systems were operating normally. Commonwealth Bank told customers that payments were failing, while Downdetector recorded more than 1,900 outage reports by 3:27 p.m. in Sydney, with transfers and mobile banking among the most common complaints. The outage temporarily interrupted card acceptance during a Saturday trading period for businesses reliant on electronic payments.
