Waymo robotaxis are no longer available on Uber's ride-hail app in Phoenix, Arizona, ending a nearly three-year partnership between the two companies in that city, TechCrunch reported Monday. Both companies confirmed the change to TechCrunch. Uber said it is preparing to launch a separate autonomous vehicle partnership in Phoenix but did not name the partner. Waymo said the vehicles used by Uber for what it called a pilot program have been integrated into its own Phoenix fleet and are available through its app. The end of the deployment happened in May, per Waymo. Uber told TechCrunch the two companies decided to end it because it was the contracted end date. Waymo's vehicles remain available on Uber in Austin and Atlanta. The collaboration began in 2023, when the robotaxi industry was at an earlier stage. The partnership was unusual in that Phoenix was the only city where Waymo operated both directly and through Uber. The article, written by Sean O'Kane, was published June 29, 2026.
