Check Point Research found that a jailbreak bundle called Haiou modifies OpenAI Codex configuration to insert advertisements for a third-party AI gateway into future responses, The Hacker News reports. The researchers call the behavior "prompt adware."

The bundle adds advertising instructions to the agent's global instruction file, causing greetings and activation words to trigger promotions. It is also bundled within Codex-X, an open-source graphical configuration tool. Check Point says the behavior arrives through natural-language instructions and configuration rather than a conventional executable payload, extending the trust risks of third-party agent customization.
