4D Molecular Therapeutics begins Phase 3 enrollment for eye gene therapy

4D Molecular Therapeutics begins Phase 3 enrollment for eye gene therapy Image: Primary
4D Molecular Therapeutics has begun enrolling patients in its 4SIGHT Phase 3 trial of 4D-150 for diabetic macular edema, according to a B. Riley Securities research update. Two other Phase 3 trials are evaluating the gene therapy for wet age-related macular degeneration. The treatment is designed to continuously produce an anti-VEGF protein, potentially reducing repeated eye injections. Two-year SPECTRA results showed a 10.8-letter vision gain and an average of 5.2 supplemental injections after three aflibercept loading doses at the Phase 3 dose. No intraocular inflammation or ocular serious adverse events were reported across the 22-patient study population.
