# Modulate raises $25M for AI that analyzes live calls

Modulate has raised $25M in a round led by Future Ventures to expand AI tools that analyze speech directly from audio, bringing its total funding to $60M. Hyperplane and Lakestar also participated.

Its Velma product combines more than 100 specialized audio models to assess signals such as tone, emphasis and whether a voice is synthetic during an ongoing call. Modulate says the system can help identify fraud attempts and other problems, and plans to spend the new funding on research, engineering and developer tools. Its claims of greater efficiency and accuracy than larger models are the company's own comparisons.
