Cloud-seeding startup Rainmaker raised $100 million in a Series B backed by NOA VC, Upfront Ventures, DCVC, Lowercarbon Capital and Dream Ventures. The company plans to expand its weather-research team, scale operations in the American West and lower the cost of producing freshwater.

Rainmaker flies weather-resistant drones into winter storm clouds to release silver iodide, then uses its own radar to attribute additional rain or snow to individual flights. It reported 82 distinct seeding signatures representing more than 145 million verified gallons over four months, but still aims to prove its cost at scale.
