Fluxnium has emerged from stealth with a $7 million seed round led by Congruent Ventures to develop technology for extracting uranium from seawater. The startup licensed its chemistry from U.S. Department of Energy national labs and uses polymer fibers designed to attract dissolved uranium. It says increasing fiber surface area has reduced extraction costs from earlier national-lab demonstrations, but did not provide a current cost figure.
