Apple's new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display supports Apple CMF 2026 color modes, becoming the first laptop with the technology, The Verge reports. The modes aim to make colors appear consistent across different display technologies, extending a capability previously available on Apple's Studio Display XDR to a portable computer.

The laptop offers two reference modes using the newer color-matching functions, which mathematically describe human color perception. It also supports calibration with measurement equipment or visual adjustments. Professionals can still choose 14 reference modes using the established CIE 1931 standard; Apple is working with a CIE technical committee on a proposed standard for its newer approach.
