Isomorphic Labs announced it has raised 2.1 billion dollars in Series B funding. The financing round was led by Thrive Capital and included participation from Alphabet, GV, MGX, Temasek, CapitalG and the UK Sovereign AI Fund. The company said the capital will accelerate its evolution from pioneering AI models to applying them at scale.

The new funds will support development and deployment of its AI drug design engine, called IsoDDE. They will also help advance its pipeline of therapeutic programs toward the clinic and support hiring of AI, engineering, drug design and clinical talent across its sites. The company maintains a portfolio of strategic partnerships with Novartis, Lilly and Johnson and Johnson.

Sir Demis Hassabis, founder and chief executive, said the round is a massive vote of confidence from investors in the company's AI-first approach. He said the focus now is on scaling the technology and building out the drug design engine in pursuit of the mission to solve all disease.

Max Jaderberg, president, said the engine has proven its worth across internal programs by hitting key milestones and identifying viable candidates. He said it provides a repeatable way to design new medicines for a wide range of diseases.

Ruth Porat, president and chief investment officer of Alphabet and Google, said the application of AI in healthcare offers a profound opportunity. She said the funding will accelerate the work and bring important interventions to market with greater speed.

Joshua Kushner, founder and chief executive of Thrive Capital, said the team has made significant progress in building a unified AI drug design engine over the past year. Dr. Krishna Yeshwant, managing partner at GV, said the team is unmatched at the intersection of AI and drug discovery.

Isomorphic Labs was founded in 2021. It is headquartered in London with office locations in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Lausanne, Switzerland.
