SecurityWeek reported that roughly 3 million dollars worth of pUSD was stolen from Polymarket users through a phishing campaign after a third party vendor was compromised. The decentralized prediction market platform said in a Thursday post on X that it discovered this morning that a malicious script had been injected into its frontend for some users. Polymarket stated that it has contained the issue and removed the affected dependency. The company promised to fully refund users affected by the hacker attack that came to light this week and said impacted users will be contacted. Blockchain security company PeckShield reported the theft of roughly 3 million dollars in pUSD which is Polymarket s USDC backed trading currency. PeckShield said the attacker bridged the stolen funds from Polygon to Ethereum and swapped them into about 1893 ETH. A blockchain analyst confirmed that the losses total nearly 3 million dollars with funds stolen from at least 11 victims. It is unclear who is behind the attack according to the report. SecurityWeek has reached out to Polymarket for confirmation of the amount stolen and the number of impacted users.
