Adobe announced at Adobe MAX expansions to conversational AI in its creative tools. The public beta of AI Assistant in Photoshop is now available on web and mobile. Users can edit photos by describing changes such as removing distractions, changing backgrounds, refining lighting, or adjusting color.

The assistant can apply edits automatically or provide step by step guidance. Voice input is supported in the Photoshop app. AI Markup in the web version lets users draw on an image and add prompts to control specific areas of change.

Firefly Image Editor now includes generative fill to add or replace elements, generative remove for unwanted objects, generative expand for new sizes and aspect ratios, generative upscale for higher resolution, and background removal with a click. The editor supports more than 25 AI models from providers including Adobe, Google, OpenAI, Runway, and Black Forest Labs.

Paid subscribers to Photoshop on web and mobile receive unlimited generations through April 9 when using AI Assistant. Free users of Photoshop on web and mobile receive 20 generations. Firefly customers have unlimited generations. The capabilities are available globally today.
