PsiQuantum appoints Victor Peng interim CEO

How Will PsiQuantum's New Interim CEO Scale its Operations? Image: Technology Magazine
PsiQuantum has announced that Victor Peng has joined the firm as its interim chief executive officer. Victor Peng is a computing industry veteran and former president of Advanced Micro Devices. Co-founder Jeremy O'Brien is transitioning to the role of executive chairman. In the new role, O'Brien will lead the board of directors and guide PsiQuantum's strategic direction and partnerships. The leadership restructure positions the company with experienced technology executives as it searches for a permanent chief executive officer. "PsiQuantum was founded to realise the potential of quantum computing and the team has spent years doing the hard technical work to make that possible," Jeremy says. "As we shift into large-scale deployment and execution, Victor brings exactly the leadership we need." Victor assumes responsibility for day-to-day operations and will shape business, financial and operational strategies. His experience includes leading multi-billion-dollar technology companies and scaling complex technologies and teams through major platform transitions. His remit includes advancing PsiQuantum's utility-scale quantum computing systems in Australia and Chicago, driving business growth, overseeing technical development across silicon photonics and other platforms and working closely with the leadership team to execute on deployment milestones. "PsiQuantum has done the hard work to establish a real foundation for utility-scale quantum computing from silicon photonics to fault-tolerant architectures and large-scale deployments," Victor explains. "The task ahead is execution." "Jeremy and the founding team have built something truly unique and I'm excited to partner closely with them to help translate their mission into deployed systems that unlock this technology." The transition reflects PsiQuantum's evolution from a research-focused organisation to one prioritising commercial deployment.
