PowerX Commercializes Scalable Modular Data Centers
PowerX Inc. has commercialized Mega Power DC, a modular data center solution. The product applies expertise from the development and manufacturing of battery energy storage systems. It integrates servers, power systems, cooling equipment and large capacity battery storage into a single container.
The design reduces construction timelines from four to five years to approximately one year and lowers deployment costs
The system uses a 10 foot container that can house up to six industry standard 42U racks for GPUs and other hardware. An optional 800 kilowatt hour LFP based battery energy storage system supports uninterrupted operation during power outages. Computing configurations including GPUs, CPUs and networking equipment can be customized to client specifications.
PowerX signed a memorandum of understanding with Internet Initiative Japan Inc. to explore collaboration on the development and expansion of power and digital infrastructure utilizing large scale battery energy storage systems and containerized data centers. The container based approach allows flexible placement on constrained sites and scalability from single units to multi unit configurations.
