Google is defending a £1.2B claim at London's Competition Appeal Tribunal on behalf of about 20 million British consumers, The Next Web reports. The claim alleges that Play Store commissions of up to 30% were passed into consumer prices. The class covers purchases from 1 October 2015 to 31 July 2026, and the trial is listed for seven weeks.

Google denies dominance in the market for facilitating digital content transactions between developers and consumers and has asked for dismissal. Six weeks ago, it agreed to pay £260M to settle a separate UK developer claim without admitting wrongdoing. That settlement allocated £160M to developers and £100M to costs.
