OpenAI says its updated Chrome extension lets ChatGPT read open browser tabs when users tag Chrome in ChatGPT's web or desktop app. The extension can pull information from those tabs, allowing users to compare material across pages.

The update also brings conversation history from Chat or Work into ChatGPT's browser sidebar. ChatGPT Work can control Chrome tabs to send messages, fill out forms or download files, and can organize or group open tabs. Access to tab contents requires the extension to be installed and Chrome to be tagged in ChatGPT.
