Swedish quantum startup Arkeon raised 594200 euros (6.5 million Swedish kronor) in seed funding to advance technology for improving the precision and yield of superconducting quantum chip manufacturing. The round was led by Chalmers Ventures with participation from Navigare Ventures and Almi Invest. Arkeon plans to use the funding for technology development, customer validation and international expansion, according to EU Startups.

The company's approach enables adjustments to qubit frequencies after fabrication through modification of Josephson junction resistance. This helps compensate for production variations that affect chip performance. Arkeon targets organizations developing superconducting quantum processors, including industrial firms and research institutions.

Arkeon was founded in 2025 by Peter Hörstedt, Andreas Nylander and Marcus Rommel. It focuses on the difficulty of producing large numbers of nearly identical qubits, considered one of the persistent engineering challenges facing superconducting quantum computing. Superconducting qubits are used by several leading quantum computing companies and depend on precise manufacturing processes.

Small variations during fabrication can change qubit operating frequencies, lowering performance and yields. Arkeon's method alters the resistance of Josephson junctions by applying controlled current pulse trains through the junction barrier. The process tightens qubit frequency placement and improves yield at the wafer level, the company told EU Startups.

Arkeon has secured letters of intent from prospective customers and has a pipeline of roughly 30 companies. Chief executive Peter Hörstedt said the firm is seeing strong interest in the solution. The funding will allow the company to advance its technology and deepen engagement with customers, he said.
