CopilotKit raised 27 million dollars in a Series A round. Glilot Capital, NFX, and SignalFire led the round for the Seattle-based startup. The company plans to use the funding to grow its team of about 25 employees.

The co-founders Atai Barkai and Uli Barkai aim to put AI agents inside applications. Agents can understand user actions and display interfaces instead of text blocks. The founders said this approach improves on clunky chatbot experiences in apps.

CopilotKit offers the AG-UI protocol as an open source standard. The protocol connects agents to interfaces and supports streaming chat along with tool calls. It also enables state sharing for human-in-the-loop functionality.

The company has added an enterprise toolkit on top of the protocol. It includes support and self-hosted deployment features. CopilotKit has launched CopilotKit Enterprise Intelligence as a self-hostable product.

AG-UI works with major providers and frameworks. Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Oracle, LangChain, Mastra, PydanticAI, and Agno support the protocol. It also works with the Model Context Protocol and Agent2Agent protocol.

The tools see millions of installs each week. Customers include Deutsche Telekom, Docusign, Cisco, and S&P Global. A large portion of Fortune 500 companies use them in production.

Chief Executive Atai Barkai said developers can specify building blocks for dynamic interfaces. Agents can generate elements such as pie charts from company designs. The company competes with offerings from Vercel, assistant-ui, and OpenAI.
