Databricks launched a new security product called Lakewatch. The product applies the company's data storage platform to Security Information and Event Management tasks such as threat detection and investigation. It uses AI agents powered by Anthropic's Claude.

To build the product, Databricks acquired two startups. The company bought Antimatter in a deal that closed last year. It purchased SiftD.ai in a transaction completed on Monday, according to statements the company made to TechCrunch.

Terms were not disclosed for either acquisition. Antimatter was founded by Andrew Krioukov and raised $12 million in 2022. SiftD.ai was founded by Steve Zhang, who previously served as chief scientist at Splunk, and launched its product in November.

Employees from both startups joined Databricks. Krioukov has been at the company for several months and leads the Lakewatch team. The acquisitions involved small teams, with SiftD.ai having only a few people and Antimatter fewer than 50.
