Nexi Group and Google Cloud Collaborate to Drive Agentic Commerce Across Europe

Nexi Group and Google Cloud announced a memorandum of understanding to build infrastructure for agentic commerce in Europe. The collaboration will allow AI agents to navigate shopping journeys and execute payments autonomously based on consumer authorizations. Nexi will use Google Cloud technologies to improve its operational efficiency and fraud detection. The companies plan to integrate Google Cloud artificial intelligence and data infrastructure with Nexi's European payment network. Nexi will support open standards including the Universal Commerce Protocol and Agent Payments Protocol. The partnership will explore agentic shopping journeys and ways to optimize merchant onboarding. Roberto Catanzaro, Chief Business Officer for Merchant Solutions at Nexi, said the companies will help shape the European ecosystem for agentic commerce using the company's regional expertise and ecommerce leadership. Tara Brady, president of Google Cloud EMEA, said the technologies will allow Nexi to accelerate innovation and define next generation digital payments. The collaboration will also advance operational excellence. Nexi intends to use Google Cloud analytics to optimize real time fraud detection, automate compliance, and streamline merchant onboarding. The companies will work to enhance accessibility of payment services for independent software vendors.
