GPT-5.4 becomes generally available in GitHub Copilot Image: Primary
GitHub has started rolling out GPT-5.4, OpenAI's latest agentic coding model, in Copilot. The model can now be selected in the model picker for users on Copilot Pro, Pro+, Business, and Enterprise plans. Early testing showed GPT-5.4 achieving new success rates on real-world agentic and software development tasks. The model also displayed stronger logical reasoning and task execution on complex, multi-step processes that depend on tools. Copilot Enterprise and Business plan administrators must enable the GPT-5.4 policy in Copilot settings before use. The rollout covers Visual Studio Code version 1.104.1 and later in chat, ask, edit, and agent modes. It also reaches Visual Studio version 17.14.19 and later in agent and ask modes, JetBrains versions 1.5.66 and later in ask, edit, and agent modes, Xcode versions 0.48.0 and later in ask and agent modes, and Eclipse versions 0.15.1 and later in ask and agent modes. The model is further available on github.com, GitHub Mobile for iOS and Android, GitHub CLI, and GitHub Copilot Coding Agent. Prompting and model parameters perform best in the most recent versions of each product. GitHub encourages users to upgrade and to share feedback in the GitHub Community.
