Microsoft announced on Friday that Phil Spencer, the chief executive of Microsoft Gaming, and Sarah Bond, the president of Xbox, are leaving the company. Asha Sharma, who previously held executive roles at Instacart and Meta and most recently served as president of Microsoft's CoreAI product, will take over as the new Microsoft Gaming CEO.

In an internal memo that was published by The Verge, Sharma wrote that Microsoft will invent new business models and new ways to play. She said monetization and AI will both evolve and influence this future.

Sharma also said that the company will not chase short-term efficiency or flood the ecosystem with soulless AI slop. She added that games are and always will be art, crafted by humans, and created with the most innovative technology provided by the company.

Sharma made three commitments in the memo. One involves the statements on AI and business models. The others center on building great games beloved by players and prioritizing Xbox.
