Amazon-owned eero announced its new eero Signal 4G LTE device on Wednesday. The $99.99 product acts as a cellular backup during internet outages for customers with an eero subscription.

Customers install the device by plugging it into any compatible USB-C powered eero device with Wi-Fi 6 or higher. The eero Signal switches to cellular service automatically during an outage and returns to standby mode once internet service is restored.

The product is intended for work from home employees, security systems that require constant connectivity, and locations frequently affected by outages. Cellular usage occurs only intermittently, resulting in subscription costs lower than most comparable 4G LTE plans.

At launch, subscribers can select a $99.99 annual eero Plus plan that includes 10 GB of backup data or a $199.99 eero Plus 100 plan with 100 GB of data. Both plans provide discounted pricing on the device at the time of purchase.

Eero says the device works with several major carriers, including AT&T and Verizon, and uses a built-in multi-carrier eSIM to connect to the best available network. The company plans to release a 5G version of the eero Signal for $199.99 later this year and extend support to eero Business plan customers.
